Overview

Launch to Fall 2021 is a 4-week virtual summer program of 2 sessions a week offered between July 26^th – August 19^th for elementary, middle and high school students through online sessions via Zoom. These sessions will provide tips, tricks, and templates on asking for help, time management, goal setting, making friends, and so much more!

Sessions will be offered at the following times.

Elementary

• Mondays and Wednesdays at 10am-11am CST (July 26 – August 18)

or

• Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4pm-5pm CST (July 27 – August 19)

Middle School:

• Mondays and Wednesdays at 1pm-12pm CST (July 26 – August 18)

or

• Tuesday and Thursday at 10am-11am CST (July 27 – August 19)

High School:

• Mondays and Wednesdays at 4pm-5pm CST (July 26 – August 18)

or

• Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1pm-2pm CST (July 27 – August 19)

Description

Each level focuses on the following topics during the given week of the program.

• Week 1: Student Self-Advocacy
• Week 2 and 3: Executive Functioning
• Week 4: Social Skills

Student Self-Advocacy: In these session the focus is on “HOW” to create your advocacy story and “WHY” it is important and if it does not work what are the next steps. Some topics that will be discussed are what is your advocacy story, how to create your advocacy story, revisiting your story (how can you take it above and beyond), you have advocated before without realizing it, presenting your story and how to make a change, what is the chain of command (you talked to the teacher, who do you talk to next) practice makes perfect (practicing what to say), the importance of finding your voice, etc. while feeling confident in the process.

Executive Functioning. In these session the focus is on “HOW” students can learn executive functioning and “WHY” it is an important skill to learn. Some topics discussed are what is executive functioning (and how it affects you), strategies on how to create and manage goals on a day-to-day basis, time management skills, learning organization skills for physical and digital workspaces, who you can count on for support or guidance, completing assignments, etc. and how to do so while feeling confident in the process.

Social Skills: In these session the focus is on “HOW” students can learn social skills and “WHY” it is an important skill to learn and incorporate. Some topics discussed are using and reading social ques, how to find and make friends, taking care of yourself, etc. and how to do so while feeling confident in the process.

Cost

The cost of the program is $200 per student for all grade levels.
